"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18
Now more than ever, God is calling the body of Christ to a level of maturity. It
is time to grow up in the things of God. It is time to grow up in the spirit.
The enemy had stepped up his activity against the body of Christ and he is
preying on the immaturity of many Christians to keep them in bondage.
God is doing a great work by His spirit and God is doing a quick work. We can no
longer afford to be drinking milk after receiving the word for five, ten, twenty
years. Some Christians never fail to tell you how long they have been saved and
all that God has done for them.
However, the thing is not in the number of years you have been born again but
its in the fruit you are bearing or not bearing. Are you bearing fruit?
God is looking for a people in these days that are willing to be consumed with
Him. A people who are willing to do whatever the Holy Spirit leads them to do in
order to mature in the things of God. A people who are willing not just to get
the strong meat of the word but do digest it and do what it says.
These are serious times and there is no time for immaturity in the body of
Christ. Do not get me wrong. I am not saying that someone who just accepted
Jesus Christ should be mature in Christ. I am talking about people who have been
saved for years, sitting under the Word of God and just getting fat. I am
talking about Christians who refuse to walk in the spirit and continually walk
in the flesh.
It is time for us to open our spiritual eyes and see how the enemy is doing his
best to have us fight against each other. He uses acts of immaturity such as
confusion, division, strife, slander, gossip to break the unity and the flow of
the spirit. If we are not spiritually mature we will always be majoring in the
minors. All our time will be constantly consumed with what the devil is doing
and trying to do.
The constant maze of who said and when it was said and who replied to what was
said, and who repeated what was said. Brethren, it is time to grow up! "For when
for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again
which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have
need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13For every one that useth milk is
unskilful in the word
of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14But strong meat belongeth to them that are
of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both good and evil." Hebrews 5:12-14
Some Christians are leaving churches, not talking to brothers and sisters and
feel like they have a right to do so. If where you fellowship is where you know
God has told you to fellowship, then you should not leave there until God
directs you to leave. You should not allow the enemy in any form or fashion to
drive you out of the will of God. If God has told you to leave a church, then by
all means leave but if He has not, then stay and allow Him to lead you. Do not
think for a moment that the enemy is all delighted that you are in the will of
the Lord. He will do all that He can to get you out of the will of God and He
will use every carnal Christian He can to make you get out of God's will. If
your eyes are not spiritually opened and you do not know how to war in the
spirit you will fall for the trap and will always be running from church to
church and from job to job. We often feel justified when we have been hurt, to
feel the way
we feel. We do have a right to our feelings as long as they do not violate the
word of God. God's word does not justify us being bitter, unforgiving, hateful,
spreading discord, rendering evil for evil. The more we die to self, the harder
it is for us to be hurt by people. The more mature we are in Christ the easier
it is for us to recognize that the attacks are not from the person they are
coming through but from the devil.
It is sad that much of the attacks in the body of Christ comes from Christians
and not from sinners. There are no perfect churches or people here on earth.
That is because none of us are perfect, we are striving towards perfection. We
can no longer afford to allow people and things to hinder us from growing and
maturing in the Lord. We cannot afford to be asleep in the spirit, we have to be
on the spiritual alert. The spirit world is more real than the natural world.
Your fight is not with your brother or sister in Christ, your fight is not with
your pastor, your fight is not with the Choir leader, your fight is not with
your spouse of your relatives. It is a spiritual thing that has to be fought and
won in the spirit. Instead of talking and talking and talking we should be doing
a lot more praying and praying and praying about the situations that come up
against us. We should use the authority that God has given us and bind the evil
spirits that are in operation in the name of Jesus.
It is time for us to grow up in the Lord. We have so much work to do for the
Lord. Sometimes Christians who have been saved for years and just complacent get
all upset when young Christians come into the church, on fire for the Lord, with
a total zeal for God pass them and get into leadership positions and are used
mightily of God. What God is doing now, he is not asking how long you have been
a Christian, he
is not asking how long you have been a member, God is doing a quick work and He
is using available vessels. God is using people who are totally sold out to Him,
people who are willing to mature in Him.
People who are not just hearers of the word but doers. People who are willing to
leave all and follow Him. People who have put their hand to the plough and mean
that come hell or high waters they are not looking back. God is looking for
people whose main focus is to know Him and to do whatever He asks them to do.
Oh, that our eyes be spiritually opened and enlightened in this hour.
Oh that we may hear and know what God is saying and be obedient. Oh that we may
realize the need for us to war in the spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the
flesh. Oh that we may realize that it is seconds to midnight and that Jesus
Christ could return at any hour.
Brethren, it is time to grow up. Our days of being carnal Christians are
over. Judgment has begun in the house of the Lord. God is warning us but God is
also depending on us. May God have mercy on us.
